Making a Difference in Education

Overview

  • Local Task Forces (LTFs) were formed to represent the needs and interests of students with intellectual disabilities and their families. Today, most LTFs have expanded their efforts to include all students with disabilities.

Local Meetings

  • All meetings of the Local Task Force are open to the public. Anyone wishing to present oral testimony at a Local Task Force meeting must contact the Chairperson to make those arrangements.

This presentation is designed to identify key components of social skills needed to be a friend and to form friendships, as this can be challenging for some children and young adults. During this presentation, we will identify and discuss what friendship is and why it can be challenging. We will also introduce activities one can do in a group setting to encourage social skills and friendship development.
